I want to run a marathon?

One of my goals in life is to run a marathon. I am a runner, which normally run five miles every other day. But in recent years I have always had problems with my knees and my hips. Last year I decided to stretch my career, and ended up running seven miles, and I had to talk to someone in my career. Anyway I did it my two knees and was out for about four months. They have only recently healed, but I've been using knee braces. I found the other day for the first time in four months with my keys and everything that felt good. I wondered what would be a good way to build to the level of marathon, without damaging the knees or hips. There is also some special diets that help support muscle and bone strength. I'm a vegetarian, so that the meat is out of question. I wear Asics Gel Nimbus running shoes. Before my career, I always walk a mile, then stretch, do my race, and then walk a mile to cool down, then stretch again. Any help would be appreciated.

You sound like you're on the right track but running itself is hard on the knees and it gets worse as you get older. Treadmills are supposed to be the worst so if you can, try running on softer surfaces when possible like a lot of laps around a football field. Running on the beach is tough and it seems that nothing kills your muscles as if this is a great workout too. When not last year, seven miles, that's just one of 10 km from one of 10 km is 6.26 miles. Training for a marathon is hard. Start slow with different distances then the way they work. Work your way in a position to do a 10K, then when your comfortable, try to run a marathon and a half, and finally, when you are ready to go to the full marathon. Lifting weights is important too, especially the abdominals and legs and do not forget the calves as they are often the leg muscles most neglected. You said: do not forget to always stretch and cooldowns. Try doing some rotations and joints to get the liquid synovial will advance. But also give your joints a break from time to time. If you are training every day, running long distances, perhaps every two days instead of just doing some cardio on a machine as a ellipitical or bicycle that is low impact. Take a long strenuous training but give your knees a break. As far as equipment goes, if the knee braces work for you, stick with it. Sometimes it bothers my knees when I run a lot and I help kneestraps bridges. Perhaps they can help you? As far as diet goes, you can not stress enough the importance of calcium in your diet for strong bones. Try some oil omega-3 or tablets and / or from fish oil is good for the joints as well. Keep on truckin!
